Selective
Guide To Bird-Feeding
Use
The City Farmer seed blend chart to help you determine the
best way to attract the types of birds you want by selecting
the right seed blend and the right bird feeder. All our seed
is fresh and our seed blends are locally-formulated to attract
the greatest variety of birds to any one feeding station.
While many seed blends sold at discount or hardware stores
contain up to 50% grain fillers that make it appear you are
getting more, the birds do not eat the grain filler and simply
kick it around. Our bird-feeding specialists will show you
how to enjoy one or more of the following ways to attract
and feed wild birds in your backyard. |

Feeding
on the Ground
Most ground-feeding birds prefer millet
and cracked corn. We recommend this seed blend for feeding
birds and other wildlife on the ground or on a platform tray.

birds that feed at an elevated feeder prefer a variety of
larger seeds including oil and striped sunflower, saf-flower
and sunflower hearts. We recommend this seed blend for feeding
at an elevated birdfeeder.

Feeding
on the Ground and at the Feeders
The City Farmer has a variety of wooden
birdfeeders that have features designed to feed birds both
at the feeder and on the ground. Most birds will eat the larger
seeds at the feeder and knock out the millet and other seeds
for ground-feeding birds. For feeding at both the feeder and
on the ground we recommend.
